BEFORE A SPICULE TREATMENT

Spicules Before Care:

Avoid the following procedures: electrolysis, waxing, depilatory creams, laser hair removal and sun exposure.

Please discontinue products containing any exfoliating agents or active ingredients: vitamin A, retinoic acid, tretinoin, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, astringents, etc. 2-3 days prior to treatment.

Do not wax or shave 48-72 hours before. Practice strict sun protection prior. Bring a hat on the day if it's sunny.

Please wait 2 weeks after laser, ipl, chemical peels, hyrodermabrasion, dermaplaning, injectables, needling or other related treatments before receiving a spicule treatment.

AFTER A SPICULE TREATMENT

Aftercare Post Spicule Treatment:

A prickly or spiky sensation is completely normal and comes from the natural Dr.esthé spicules used in your treatment. This sensation will reduce over the next 24-48 as the spicules naturally expel from your skin. You may feel the spicules while they are still embedded in the skin, particularly when touching your face or

pressing against the skin.

You might experience redness or warmth as your skin is working hard and this warmth is part of the activation process. Mild swelling or puffiness may appear as your skin responds to the stimulation. You might experience a purge, mild skin sensitivity, windburn sensation, mild to moderate flaking or shedding, blotchiness and/or trigger a histamine response resulting in itchiness or bumps for the first few days.

A feeling of tightness over the next few days is normal as your skin begins to regenerate and repair. Do not pick, scratch, or aggressively rub the treated area. Avoid touching your skin to allow the spicules to expel naturally. Sleep on a clean pillowcase. If itching and swelling persists use an antihistamine or contact us.

Avoid cleansing for at least 12 hours, after this period rinse the skin with water and pat dry, do not rub. Skincare products may tingle or slightly burn for the first couple of days. Gentle, soothing and hydrating products are highly advised to relieve any tightness, flaking or dryness. Avoid harsh cleansers or washcloths. Use pressing or patting motions when applying skincare or cleansing. Luke warm to cold water is highly advised. Mineral make-up can be worn 48hrs post treatment.

Avoid heat, hot showers, saunas, hot tubs, hot water, chlorine, makeup and sweaty activity for 24-48 hours; this includes exercise of any kind. Avoid facial waxing for 7-10 days.

For the first 5-7 days, Please discontinue products containing any exfoliating agents or active ingredients: vitamin a or c, retinoic acid, tretinoin, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic acid, salicylic acid and astringents. Unless advised otherwise. No scrubs, polishers, or aggressive cleansing brushes should be used for 7-14 days.

You should take extra precautions to guard against sun exposure immediately after and the week following the procedure. Use a sunscreen with zinc or SPF 30 and reapply often. Avoid direct sunlight and take precautions with general sun exposure.

Please wait 2 weeks between laser, ipl, injectables, dermaplaning, hydrodermabrasion, needling or other related exfoliating treatments before and after receiving a spicule treatment.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Spicule treatment is not recommended for:

Clients with active cold sores, herpes simplex, warts, wounds, sunburn, open lesions
Bacterial or fungal infections
Severe facial eczema, dermatitis, keratosis, active acne lesions stage 3-4 or inflammatory rosacea
Extremely sensitive skin or suffering from an impaired barrier
Patients with a history of allergies, rashes or other inflammatory conditions
If you have taken Accutane or Roaccutane within the past 6-12 months
Using topical prescription retinoids
Skin cancer, chemotherapy, radiation therapy or skin tumours
Cosmetic tattooing
Keloid scarring
